Each year, Yoga Stops Traffick is a worldwide yoga event to raise awareness about human trafficking, bringing together thousands of people all over the world. In 2013 it fell on Saturday 9 March, right in the middle of my teacher training with John Scott, so we decided to mark the occasion with 108 sun salutations. YST raised over £30,000 for the Indian organization Odanadi Seva Trust, to give survivors of human trafficking the chance of a better future.
On 30 December 2012, Stillpoint Yoga London hosted a wonderful day of celebration and remembrance in honour of Ozge Karabiyik, who died in January 2012. With teaching by John Scott and Lucy Crawford, the day raised £1,400 in aid of Centrepoint.
I was really grateful to be able to share this day with Brigitte, Brian, Sue and Chris, who travelled with me from Milton Keynes for their first visit to Stillpoint, along with Scott, John, Lucy and many Stillpoint friends.
On Saturday 29 October 2011, Whitespace Studio celebrated the one-year anniversary of the studio opening in Milton Keynes with a charity open day in aid of Yoga Gives Back. I taught an early risers Ashtanga Yoga led practice at the start of the day and then, later in the day, attended a lovely Restorative Yoga class taught by Brigitte Rooney. In total the day raised £1,000 for Yoga Gives Back!
In August 2011 I attended a hatha yoga practice taught by Deborah Berryman at the Peace Pagoda in Milton Keynes. The event was organised by Whitespace Studio.
On Friday 24 September 2010, I took part in a 108 sun salutation practice hosted by Stillpoint Yoga London to raise funds for The Red Cross in aid of the floods in Pakistan.
